Guni is a Queer Sri Lankan American ethnic studies scholar, digital media storyteller, and community archivist. He moved to the United States from Sri Lanka with his family in the year 2000 when he was just two years-old. Guni was raised in Orange County, California surrounded by a community of Sri Lankan American migrant families through whom he developed his cultural subjectivity. In his formative years, he participated in various Sri Lankan performing arts festivities and gained an avid interest in visual media from South Asia. Consequently, and after coming across the phrase "nostalgia without memory," his personal and academic interests center narratives of immigrant artists and activists and how they manifest memories of their homeland through their work. www.gunindu.com
